What is the Pharmacy Quality Scheme?
The Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) forms part of the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF)supporting delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan.
As part of this community pharmacy contractors are rewarded for demonstrating quality criteria in the three domains of healthcare quality:
- Clinical Effectiveness
- Patient Safety
- Patient Experience
Contractors must make their declaration between 9am on 31st January 2022 and 11.59pm on 25th February 2022.
What training do I need for the Pharmacy Quality Scheme?
In order to meet the criteria for this scheme pharmacy team members are required to undertake some training and related assessments. This includes Registered Prharmacy Professionals, Trainee Pharmacists, Technicians, Dispensary Staff etc.
However, depending on the nature of the role (e.g. registered or non-registered) there are different training needs. Furthermore, 8/12 of the training requirements were included in previous scemes, therefore some memebers who have successfully completeted these training areas and assessments do not need to complete this again.
PSNC have provided us with a helpful guide which breaks down what level of training you will need along with information on how to obtain training.
Where you are supporting community pharmacies across February 2022, please communicate accordingly upon completion and provide a copy of your certificate as necessary.
