To start booking and more importantly winning locum shifts it is important you have yourself organised. Regardless of whether you decide to locum part-time or full-time; you are newly qualified or re-entering the locum world you need to ensure you have yourself registered and all your necessary paperwork.

Get Registered

Before you can start working shifts you must ensure you are registered with the relevant employers. For example, if you chose to work in Boots Opticians you must ensure you have registered for an OPS account (Learn more).

Get your documents in order

By uploading your essential documents to your Locate a Locum profile, you can quickly and easily book shifts without having to go back and forth with your employer to send the necessary documents.

What documents do you need? This varies on your role as Optometrists may need slightly different documents than a Contact Lens Optician. See our breakdown below:

Optometrist:

  • Photographic ID (eg Passport) - England, Scotland, Wales, NI, Ireland
  • Indemnity insurance - England, Scotland, Wales, NI, Ireland
  • Enhanced DBS (Police Check) - England, Scotland & Wales, NI
  • GOC NUMBER (Reg Number)
  • OPL number
  • CV
  • 2 x References

Contact Lens Optician:

  • GOC/CORU registered contact lens optician
  • DBS
  • Indemnity Insurance
  • Proof of Identity
  • CV
  • 2 x References
